Sir Quett Ketumile Joni Masire, an Esteemed Member of the FARA High-Level Advocacy Panel, Passes on at 91

The news of the sad departure of our esteemed member of the FARA High-Level Advocacy Panel (HiLAP) for eternity has been received at the Secretariat with rude shock. While death in itself is the inevitable ultimate closure of our sojourn on this side of eternity, we always wish this phase could be extended for one more day!

And so it was, that time has come to a stand still for our beloved Elder Statesman and FARA HiLAP Member. We stand as well in honour of a legendary and visionary leader who was ahead of his time in all respects.

To the family friends, the nation of Botswana and indeed Africa and the world at large, on behalf of the FARA Board Chair, Dr Ephraim Mukisira, the Secretariat and the entire fraternity of the AR4D in Africa, we pay a deserving tribute to the memory and legacy of a man and a leader who was larger than life. My fondest memories of a unique opportunity of gleaning from the sage while sharing the podium with him during the Crowford Foundation events in Perth Australia in 2013 will now remain my souvenir of this great and illustrious son of Africa.

Dr Mukisira, the FARA Board Chair would like me to pass to the family and by extension the Government and people of Botswana his most sincere condolences and sympathy as we all go through this difficult period of temporal separation.
Go well, Rest well Sir Ketumile and may the winds of peace assuage your ethereal path on your homebound journey. May the paths of glory open up before you of their own accord. The continent you loved so well grieves your loss but we take consolation in the Hebrew saying:

Grieve not that he is no more but REJOICE that he was!

With Sympathy
