The Executive Director of FARA, Dr Yemi Akinbamijo paid a visit to the Federação da Agricultura e Pecuária da Bahia FAEB (Federation of Agriculture and Livestock of Bahia), the organ responsible for providing of advisory services guiding Trade Unions and rural workers producers in the various areas of agriculture and livestock.
The ED was received by Dr Guilherme Moura, Vice-President of FAEB where the FAEB system was introduced as a system that works to strengthen the agricultural sector in Bahia, defending the interests and rights of rural producers in our state, as well as training and professionalizing the rural labor force. The operational framework of FAEB ensures that the provision of technical assistance to family agriculture transforms rural farming into business while putting technology on the farm. The activities of FAEB are executed through the operational unit of the system known as Serviço Nacional de Aprendizagem Rural (National Service for Rural Learning) – SENAR. These activities bring about positive attitudinal change among producers and rural workers, which ultimately reflects in the improvement of the Brazilian agri-food system. It builds capacities of the population in rural areas with through vocational training, social promotion activities, technical education, and management.
FAEB/SENAR expressed willingness to work with FARA to improve the capacities of African farmers by replicating similar programs developed by FAEB, using innovation platform system. The two institutions agreed to explore the possibility of developing programmatic areas of collaboration using relevant value chains
