Board Member

Ms Janet Ngombalu is the representative of the Private Sector on the FARA Board. She is currently the Country Director of Christian Aid Kenya.  Until recently, Ms Ngombalu worked for the Eastern Africa Grain Council (EAGC), a private sector-based organization of the Grain Value Chain Actors in Eastern Africa, as the Regional Programmes Coordinator. Ms Ngombalu holds a master’s degree in Sociology, majoring in Entrepreneurship Development from the University of Nairobi, and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Community Development from the Daystar University, also in Nairobi. Professionally, she trained in enterprise development through value chains and business service markets in Turin, Italy. Janet is a fellow at the Africa Food Fellowship, an initiative of Wageningen University and Wasafiri Consulting. She is also a certified champion of change for Africa – Agricultural Development programme under the USAID Feed the Future Initiative supported by DAI. Ms Ngombalu has been instrumental in driving the critical role that the private sector plays in fostering agricultural innovation, sustainable practices, and economic growth in Africa.

Ms Ngombalu has a wealth of experience in various programme areas, fundraising and people management. She has over 20 years’ experience and has worked across sectors, including with the private and commercial sectors. She has worked at regional level in both the private and public sectors. She possesses strong skills in stakeholder management, has a good grasp of technical programme areas and is passionate about building replicable models that reduce and/or mitigate the impact of poverty on marginalised communities. Her regional experience has exposed her to various resource mobilisation strategies and stakeholders in Kenya and beyond.
