Abdou Tenkouano is Executive Director of CORAF, the West and Central Africa Council for Agricultural Research and Development, based in Dakar, Senegal. A native of Burkina Faso, he obtained an Ingenieur du Developpement Rural (Option Agronomie) degree from the University of Ouagadougou (1985), an M.Sc in Plant Breeding from Texas A&M University (1990) and a PhD in Genetics also from Texas A&M University (1993). He has worked across sub-Saharan Africa with the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT, Mali), the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA, Nigeria, Cameroon and Ghana) and The World Vegetable Center (WorldVeg, Tanzania and Mali). Dr. Tenkouano also served as a member of the research for development council at IITA, and as deputy chair of the institutional research and development committee and a member of the institutional management committee at WorldVeg. He has been a guest lecturer at the University of Ouagadougou and at the West African Center for Crop Improvement at the University of Ghana, Legon.
