Prof. Jean Jacques Mbonigaba Muhinda holds a PhD Degree in Agriculture Sciences and Biological Engineering from Gembloux Agriculture University (Belgium), with over 19-years’ experience in agriculture development, research, technology transfer and academia. He is currently the Executive Secretary of the Association for Strengthening Agricultural Research in Eastern and Central Africa (ASARECA). He has held various prestigious positions in the past amongst which are Director General of the Rwanda Agriculture Development Board (RAB, 2012-2015) and International Expert and Principal Investigator for the project on land-husbandry and soil fertility improvement in the Republic of Sao Tome and Principe on behalf of FAO. Prof. Muhinda has good experience working with National Governments, Regional and Continental bodies, Development Agencies, and Research and Development Organizations. He currently sits on the Board of Directors of the Forum for Agricultural Research in Africa (FARA), and a member of the Steering Committee of the Pan African Bean Research Alliance (PABRA). Prof. Muhinda previously served as the Chairman of the Board of Directors for the National Agricultural Export Development Board (NAEB), the Rwanda’s apex organization in charge of export promotion for agriculture and livestock-based products; and Board Member of the Rwanda Natural Resources Authority (RNRA). Prof. Muhinda has a good track record of scientific publications in various areas of agriculture research/development and speaks fluently both English, French and Swahili languages.
